Ecuador’s decimo cuarto sueldo deadline is coming up for workers in the Sierra and Amazon regions.

Workers under an employment relationship in those regions should receive the accumulated payment by August 15, 2026, if they chose to receive the benefit as a lump sum.

The Amount And Period

The decimo cuarto equals one unified basic salary, which is $482 in 2026.

The calculation period runs from August 1, 2025 through July 31, 2026. Workers who were with the same employer for the full period receive the full amount; workers with only part of the period receive a proportional amount.

People who chose monthly payment do not receive a separate accumulated payment in August because it is already prorated into monthly pay.

What This Means For Expats

This matters if you employ staff in the Sierra or Amazon, or if you work locally under an Ecuadorian employment relationship.

The key date is August 15. Failure to pay by that date can be treated as a labor-obligation breach and may be sanctioned by the Ministry of Labor.
