Cuenca vs Loja
Cuenca and Loja are southern highland cities with similar climates. Cuenca is the established expat hub with infrastructure and community. Loja is cheaper, less touristy, and more culturally conservative. For expats wanting southern Ecuador without the Cuenca crowds, Loja is the alternative.
