Ecuador's National Transit Agency is warning people about fraudulent emails that use the agency's name, logo, and institutional image.
What The Scam Claims
The emails tell users they have supposed pending payments for traffic fines or vehicle taxes. Some messages also offer fake discounts.
The agency says the links in those emails are fraudulent and are meant to collect confidential information, including personal data and bank details.
What To Do
If you receive an email that appears to be from the transit agency, check the sender carefully and avoid clicking payment links from the message.
For official checks related to fines, licenses, or vehicle procedures, use the official portal: www.ant.gob.ec.
What This Means For Expats
This is especially relevant if you own a car, are renewing a license, or are helping someone with vehicle paperwork. Ecuador has enough real trámites already; do not let a fake payment email create a bigger problem.
