Ecuador's National Transit Agency is changing how license issuance works during a pilot period from July 20 to September 30, 2026.
The process applies to license issuance and renewal workflows handled through ANT agencies.
What Changes
During the pilot, users must enter the ANT website, select the agency where they will complete the process, generate the payment order, and pay the renewal amount through authorized financial institutions.
After that, users can go to the selected agency on any day that corresponds to the last digit of their cedula, without waiting for the date shown on the generated appointment.
Payment Timing Matters
Payments made at bank windows are enabled immediately, so users can continue once they present the payment receipt.
Payments through electronic channels, credit or debit cards, and banking correspondents may require validation of up to 72 hours before the license process can continue.
What This Means For Expats
If you are renewing or regularizing an Ecuadorian license, do not treat the generated appointment date as the only date that matters during this pilot. The practical sequence is: agency selection, payment order, payment method, validation timing, then the cedula-digit service day.
