Quito has started a new road-rehabilitation package around access areas for five Metro Centro Norte stations.

The work covers 86 road segments, or 12 kilometers, with milling, drainage repair, new asphalt, and new signage.

The contract runs for 270 days, roughly nine months, with $6.5 million in investment.

Where Work Is Focused

The package is tied to streets near the San Francisco, La Carolina, Iñaquito, Alameda, and El Ejido Metro stations.

The first work includes Tarqui, and the first phase covers 14 segments totaling 3.4 kilometers.

The broader program is expected to continue through March 2027.

What This Means For Expats

If you live, work, study, or take medical appointments in Quito’s center-north, expect rolling disruptions near Metro access areas.

The upside is practical: these are high-use corridors where businesses, residences, and universities overlap. City officials say the works are expected to benefit 800,000 people.

The smartest move is to treat Metro-adjacent streets as active construction zones this month and check routes before assuming your usual taxi or bus path is clear.
