A Quito traffic closure is in place at the Galo Plaza Lasso interchange.
The affected depressed passage on calle Nazacota Puento, between avenida 6 de Diciembre and avenida Galo Plaza Lasso, is scheduled to be completely closed for 10 days, from July 15 to July 25, 2026.
The Agencia Metropolitana de Tránsito (AMT) said the closure is tied to programmed work in the passage. Vehicles can still circulate normally on 6 de Diciembre and Galo Plaza Lasso.
What This Means For Expats
If you live in north Quito, run errands in the area, or have appointments that pass through this interchange, build in extra time through July 25. The main avenues may remain open, but a full closure in the depressed passage can still create backups at the approach points.
This is one of those small Quito logistics details that can make a simple appointment feel a lot longer than it should.
